Taking its name from a rich landowner of the Gallo-Roman era, «Priscius», the village of Prayssac was built in the 8th C. around its church. The Neolithic civilizations have left marks of their passage.
The dolmens of the «Bertrandoune», the «Trois Peyres», and the «Trois Pierres» are the last vestiges of the gravesites of people living five millennia ago. Prayssac is also the place of birth of Marshal Bessiere, Duke of Istria, at the end of the 18th C.
