Tucked into the narrowest meander on the river Lot, the mediaeval village of Luzech is one of the most spectacular sites in the Lot valley and its vineyard. The rocky spur which constitutes its backbone, dominated by the hills of Impernal and Pistula, is cut by the narrow isthmus modelled by the river. The lowlands come round in the meander’s loop, facing the abrupt Cevennes of Teulettes. On the site of an old canal, which had been dug to avoid making the complete tour of the meander, we find there the central place of the village.
