This small commune was considered as an observation point where soldiers kept a close eye on the Lot’s river traffic in the Middle Ages and during the Hundred Years’ War. It was an advance guard post for the defence of Bélaye. Situated in the same meander as Pescadoires, the two villages formed a single community. The commune of Lagardelle itself was only created in 1847.
