A very beautiful village in the Lot Valley, which benefits from an excellent location close to the vineyards and the river. This former «castrum» (fortified settlement) was built on top of a cliff dropping sheer into the water and honeycombed by caves. The old castle, built on a hill to look down on the Lot River and to guard against any enemy attacks since the 11th C., it was one of the residences belonging to the Bishops of Cahors in the Middle Ages. Albas, peaceful village where you find a real art of life, is the cradle of the Cahors wine. This place well deserves its name «Albas la Jolie.»

The tourist office organise a guided tour of Albas le 26 octobre 2017.
